The call
A Broadway building with five small tenants shared one street entrance. Every staff change meant reissuing keys to everyone, and cleaners had a key that opened more than it should have.
What we did
We fitted a fob reader on the street door and each tenancy door, wired to electric strikes with a mechanical override, and set the cleaners' fobs to a 6pm–10pm window only. Each tenant manages their own credential list; the landlord sees an audit trail on the street door.
The escape route was kept compliant — the entrance releases automatically on the fire alarm and on the break-glass unit.
The lesson
If you are reissuing keys more than once a year, electronic access has already paid for itself. Removing a lost fob takes ten seconds; rekeying a building takes a day.
