Door Lock Repair Auckland

A lock that is getting stiff is telling you it will fail soon, usually at the worst possible moment. Most of them can be repaired or adjusted rather than replaced.

Sticking, stiff and seized cylinders
Dropped doors and misaligned strike plates
Jammed aluminium sliders and window catches

The warning signs

You have to lift the door to lock it. The key needs jiggling. The handle droops. The deadbolt only throws halfway. Each of those is a mechanical fault that gets worse, and every one of them is far cheaper to fix now than after a key snaps off inside the barrel at 11pm.

Please do not use WD-40

It is a water dispersant, not a lock lubricant. It washes out the factory grease and leaves a sticky residue that collects dust, and it is behind a genuinely large share of the seized cylinders we replace. Use a dry graphite or PTFE lock lubricant instead.

Common questions

Can you repair a lock damaged in a break-in?

Often yes, including the strike plate and jamb. If the lock body is compromised we replace it and make the frame good.
