The fault was inside the door
The handle moved, but the latch on this Remuera entry door was not retracting consistently. Removing the Dorma mortice case exposed the internal fault and let us check that the timber preparation remained sound.
Repairing the mortice mechanism
We inspected the case, repaired the failed working parts and checked the spindle action before reinstalling it. The latch and strike were aligned so the repaired lock did not have to work against pressure from the frame.
