The handle had become unreliable
The keyed T-handle on this New Lynn garage door had developed movement and the cylinder was difficult to turn. Because the handle operates the locking bars behind the door, failure could have left the garage either unsecured or unable to open.
Replacing the complete T-handle
We removed the worn assembly, matched a replacement to the door thickness and connected it to the existing internal linkage. The key, handle and side locking points were then tested together through several cycles.
A common New Zealand garage lock
Keyed T-handles are still common on older tilt and sectional garage doors around Auckland. The handle and internal bars must be adjusted as one system; replacing only the visible cylinder may not solve the fault.
