A property manager had a two-day gap between tenancies on an Onehunga three-bedroom. The outgoing tenants returned two keys of the three issued.
What we did
All external cylinders rekeyed alike, three numbered keys issued against the manager's register, and a quick compliance check of window catches and the smoke alarm mounting. One rear window catch was broken and replaced on the spot.
The lesson
A missing key at changeover is not a small thing — the incoming tenant has a right to expect the property is secure. Rekeying between tenancies is quick, cheap, and the clearest evidence a landlord met their obligations.
