Previous hardware left an awkward footprint
This Balmoral timber door had been fitted with different lock furniture over the years. Once the old plate was removed, the spindle hole and larger cylinder opening needed to be checked before any replacement could sit square and secure.
Preparing for the Lockwood replacement
We measured the existing backset, marked the new Lockwood fixing pattern and cleaned up only the areas needed for the replacement. Sound timber was preserved so the new screws and lock body would have reliable support.
Retrofitting is more than covering holes
Lockwood is widely used in New Zealand, but the correct model still has to match the door thickness, backset and latch preparation. Careful preparation produces a cleaner finish and a lock that operates without strain.
