Working with an older door
This Panmure glazed timber door showed years of previous hardware changes, including an empty upper opening and worn timber around the existing handle. The goal was to restore secure operation without replacing the whole door.
Making the opening sound
We assessed the existing mortice, repaired the usable fixing area and matched replacement hardware to the door's current preparation. The latch and strike were aligned so the door closed and locked without being pulled into place.
Older joinery can often be saved
Multiple old holes do not automatically mean a new door is required. Careful preparation and correctly sized hardware can give sound timber joinery many more years of use.
