The shutter would not lock cleanly
The centre mechanism on this Wiri roller shutter had become difficult to turn. Dirt, wear and uneven tension across the locking bars meant the shutter could not be secured confidently at the end of the day.
Servicing the complete mechanism
We opened the centre lock, checked the cylinder and linkage, then cleaned and adjusted both locking bars. The shutter was tested through repeated open-and-close cycles to make sure both sides engaged together.
Check the bars, not only the key
A stiff shutter lock is often an alignment problem elsewhere in the mechanism. Forcing the key can damage the cylinder without fixing the bars that caused the resistance.
